The Picture of Dorian Gray - Book Cover Illustration & Lettering
Book cover design created for the ageless story by Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray (one of my favorite books).
The illustration is inspired by the charming figure of our main character, Dorian, who exudes calm, nobility, and beauty wherever he goes, while hiding not only a completely opposite personality, his true self - but a deadly and evil secret.
The lettering design was specially crafted to enrich the personality of this literary classic, while also giving the reader hints about the kind of story they are about to embrace: A suspenseful mystery with a hint of supernatural.
First and final iterations for this original lettering design. I worked with a loose hand-made sketch first. Then, using the sketch as a visual aid, I recreated the squared grid digitally to draw the final version of the lettering with details, colors, and textures.
